Raz Does Newsletter -The Infinite House Mentality
Imagine your portfolio as a house. In this house, are your styles, mediums, messages, and other art you have, are, and will create. The house is endless - it will go on forever, and you know how to move from one part of the house to the next with ease. You made this house and are constantly making it as you go.
Your audience also knows that you understand how to navigate your house. It is up to you to show them your house. You can choose to show how big the house is, or the details within each room. The transitioning hallways, to the sheer volume of space in a space. The opportunities are endless, and the best part is; your audience will always love it. But it’s nice to keep them in mind.
You can show them your range, and have every piece be different, and they’ll be thrilled to see all the powers you have in creation. But like running through a building, it’ll be hard for a single style (or room) to leave as strong an impact as you want. You can also create a hundred pieces within a style, and it would be like you described every element and detail of a room. Some will be beyond obsessed, while others may become overwhelmed or even tired of it. But they will all understand your passion and intentions of this room.
This is how I navigate my artistic comfort zones. I can push myself comfortably by knowing that people want to see more styles, but also explore a style, knowing that people also want to know details of a room. I try to keep around 4-8 pieces around a similar style and theme, and then move on to the next room. I don’t want to rush through ideas, but I don’t want to stagnate in the same ones. I’ve worked on this style and series enough, and after the next piece I want to move to the next series. Your fans know you are good at art, and are more invested in the whole house than a single room of it, so never be afraid to show us the world.
Much love,
